Luxury pool deck in the Gaslamp Quarter
A postmodernism style skyscraper in the heart of San Diego is home to the Omni San Diego Hotel and The Metropolitan condominiums. This 34 story building was completed in 2004 and sits between the San Diego Convention Center and the Petco Park baseball stadium. The building includes 512 guest rooms and 36 luxury penthouse condominiums on the top 11 floors.
The sixth floor contains a terrace with an outdoor pool. BEGA luminaires were chosen to light many areas of this large rooftop hangout. Stainless steel recessed wall luminaires were used to illuminate the pool deck and nearby seating areas. Compact floodlights were carefully placed to uplight large, white shade structures over the seating areas without creating glare for guests. A more spacious section of the patio with tables and chairs is illuminated by BEGA pole top luminaires. The indirect light source of these luminaires mimics the indirect lighting used for the shade structures and, with a tilted optical system, the distribution becomes asymmetric to spread light further across the patio. Lastly, round BEGA wall luminaires accent each floor and lead your eye up the height of the tallest tower
