A space built to foster curiosity and community connection

Nestled at the foot of a wooded hillside, the two-story, 30,250 sq ft Los Gatos Library provides the community with a fun and educational space filled with brightly colored signs, quite reading nooks, and a safe place for teens to study and hang out. The library was designed to be an open light-filled structure. The building has been awarded a LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council for sustainability in its construction.

Pathways around the library are lined with BEGA bollards. The bollards are designed to provide a uniform, diffuse glow. This glowing cube echos the building’s playful building-block shape, and reinforces the overall design concept. Inside, the low lobby ceiling opens to a two-story staircase, giving a sense of airiness upon arrival.

Inside the building, beautiful Limburg pendants provide light for study tables next to the windows, as well as adding a small uplight component to highlight the natural wood ceilings. The hand-blown, three-ply opal glass is illuminated from within and provides a striking visual effect when viewed from outside the building.
