Designed with the patient in mind

At Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center patients receive world-class care from a team of specialists all working together under one roof. This new medical center located in Jacksonville, Florida is a hub for all aspects of cancer care including pathologists, radiologists, clinical trials, counseling, nutrition, a cancer-specialized pharmacy, and more. The 330,000 sq ft, 9-story building embraces natural light, and provides views of the surrounding city and nearby St. Johns River.

All decisions with regards to the design of this facility centered around creating a comfortable and supportive environment for cancer patients and their families. More than 100 hand selected pieces of artwork from local artists fill the halls, courtyards, and entrance areas. A variety of BEGA luminaires were also chosen to light the main entrance and multiple courtyards. Edge-lit pole top luminaires light the driveways with glare-free and uniform illumination.

BEGA System Bollards provide additional illumination for pathways throughout the campus. The fully shielded bollard heads were paired with standard System Bollard tubes, as well as impact protection rated bollard tubes. Impact rated System Bollard tubes add barrier protection between the pedestrian walkway and main drop-off road, without compromising the sophisticated and welcoming aesthetic of the medical center. The spacing required for these impact bollards was closer than necessary to meet required light levels, so every other bollard was completed with a custom blank head.
