New hospital in the Ihme River green belt
The KRH Hospital Siloah opened its doors in September 2014 after four years of construction. Located in the heart of Hannover, Germany, this modern hospital boasts the latest medical technology, a sophisticated ambiance, and hotel level comfort. The facility houses over 530 patient beds and is also the academic hospital associated with Hannover Medical School.
Nestled within a green belt, a 150 year old chestnut tree stands tall in front of the main entrance. Its far-reaching canopy provides shade on sunny days and protection from the rain when needed. The approach to the main entrance is lined with BEGA Light Building Elements and recessed wall luminaires for wayfinding. The brightly lit, covered plaza is reminiscent of a hotel lobby, both welcoming and comfortable. Square, recessed ceiling luminaires mounted in the canopy illuminate this area which is a popular meeting place for patients and visitors.
The emergency entrance is a crucial part of any hospital. BEGA recessed linear downlights with excellent glare control illuminate the covered entrance for emergency vehicles. High light levels and quality light are of the utmost importance in this area.
As a facility geared towards occupant satisfaction, the landscaped grounds are equally as impressive as the building. BEGA bollards line a walkway from the hospital to the nearby Ihme River where the riverbank and green belt are recreational areas for both patients and staff.
